Valued at $3 billion, annual exports of engineering services from the electricity sector are set to increase by tenfold in Iran. Houshang Falahatian, Iranian Deputy Energy Minister, has said: “Technical and engineering sectors, tourism, ICT and transit are four main areas for the exports of services”.
According to Mojtaba Khosrotaj, head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organisation, the country also plans to double the income they recieve from export of services by 2021, when their sixth Five-Year National Development Plan will come to an end. The plan will run from March 20, 2016, to March 20, 2021.According to Khosrotaj, the value of the services that they will provide to other countries has been estimated to reach $16 billion by March 20, 2017, and to reach $30 billion by 2021. The newly re-elected Speaker, Ali Larijani, has also said that “the economy would be a top priority for the new parliament”.
